Artist’s Statement
I have been working on ‘structural landscapes’ - showing how a city is formed by processes similar to nature in that it is a conglomeration of structures in various stages of construction/growth, duration, and demolition/decay. The photograph can be seen as a thin slice of time isolated from an evolving process. Most of the images take the form of panoramas created by combining up to 8 separate digital images, in fact I see them more as paintings because of the hours of computer work done after the initial images are captured. The Twin Cities is a fascinating place because so much change has been compressed into only 150 years of history: a microcosm of the Industrial Revolution.
