Sarah Collins

Biography

Sarah Collins has shown her paintings in individual and group shows at churches, colleges, restaurants and art centers. She has been commissioned by numerous clients wishing to purchase art for their homes, offices, and to give as gifts.

In addition to creating her own works, Sarah teaches painting classes for teens as well as various art classes for kids at the Minnetonka Center for the Arts in Wayzata, MN. She also gives art lessons to residents at Sunrise Assisted Living Center in Minnetonka, MN.

Sarah was born in Douglas, Wyoming in 1980. She received her Associates of Art degree in Secondary Education from Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming and her Bachelor of Science in Art Education, with an emphasis in 2-D art from Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska.

Artist Statement

Art is a way for me to connect and commune with my Creator. My paintings are inspired by scripture and nature. I am often moved to transform a passage of the Bible into visual ideas, or to connect a natural scene such as a landscape to a scriptural reference. My artwork typically includes various materials. Painting with mixed media allows everyday items such as tissue paper, sand, and fabric to speak in a way they are not normally able to. I paint because I see and hear the Creator. I share my paintings because I desire others to experience Him through my art.
